I made this questionnaire to gather information about my target audience and what they believe makes an Indie music video, so that I could make sure my video appealed to them. I sent out a questionnaire to 30 people in my class, so that my research was thorough. For the first questionnaire, I left the general age and gender questions till last, as I felt this makes no difference to the music. I asked what the audiences favourite genre of music was, who their favourite artist was and how often they listened to indie music. These were the results:
I found that overall more girls than boys voted, all were aged 18-24 and most listened to (and preferred) indie music. If I compare my results to NME (an indie music magazine with a large audience) I find that my research is an almost perfect representation of the indie target audience, for example, NME's main T.A. is 16-25 year olds, and my questionnaire was done only by 18-24 year olds. There is a slightly male bias at NME/other organisations, whereas there is a female bias in my results, but that will be because more girls answered the questionnaire than boys, as when I checked I received only 27 replies.
I compiled all of my results and created an profile of what my audience might look like:
